• Purpose: Start by considering the purpose of the ceiling light. Are you looking for bright, direct task lighting, soft general lighting, or a decorative ceiling light fixture that creates a warm ambience? Narrow your options accordingly.
• Pendant or flush mount: Ceiling lights come in two main types: pendant lights and flush mount lamps. Pendant lamps can range from simple cords with bulbs to elaborate chandeliers or sculptural shades, while flush mount lights include small spotlights as well as striking designs with intricate shades.
• Materials: The material of a ceiling lamp influences both its look and the quality of light it emits. Ceiling lamps with glass, paper, and textile shades diffuse light softly, while wooden ceiling lights add a warm, natural touch. Metal is the most versatile material for modern ceiling lights.
