Richard Sapper designed the Tizio table lamp for the Italian lighting company Artemide in 1972. The streamlined Tizio works perfectly as a reading light or desk lamp because the light beam can easily be adjusted to any direction. Despite its small base, the Tizio lamp stands steadily at every angle, thanks to its counterbalanced metal arms. Tizio won the Compasso d'Oro design award in 1979 and it belongs to the collections of many museums, such as New York’s MoMA.
