Oiva - Unikko mug and plate set

Description

Marimekko’s Unikko tableware set is adorned with Maija Isola’s iconic floral pattern in stylish shades of black and white. The ceramic mugs and plates are ideal for a breakfast table for two, but their minimalist forms and bold decorations add a dose of Nordic flair to any table setting from an everyday meal to a special occasion.

The instantly recognizable Unikko pattern came about in 1964 after Armi Ratia, the founder of Marimekko, had announced in public that no floral fabrics would be designed at Marimekko. Textile designer Maija Isola, however, was not one for rules or restrictions, and in protest, she designed a complete collection of bold floral patterns named Unikko, Finnish for "poppy". Today, Unikko is one of Marimekko's best-known patterns, and it adorns a variety of objects from fabrics and bed linen to Sami Ruotsalainen’s clean-lined Oiva tableware collection.

The Unikko breakfast set includes two Oiva mugs with a capacity of 8.45 fl oz (2.5 dl) and two Oiva plates with a diameter of 7.87 x 0 in (20 x cm. cm).
