Designed by Mogens Lassen for Carl Hansen & Søn’s, the ML10097 coffee table, also known as the Egyptian table, was first presented at the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers’ Guild furniture exhibition in 1940. Lassen was inspired by the folding stands found in 1922 in the tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamun, hence the name Egyptian.
A lover of functional design, Lassen aimed at creating a versatile and graceful coffee table that could be stored folded in a small space if needed. The small edges of the veneered tabletop and the brass details of the legs complement the table's distinctive, timeless design. The Egyptian table is made by hand in Denmark.
