Enzo Catellani (b. 1950) is an Italian lighting designer and the founder of the lighting company Catellani & Smith. A self-taught designer, Catellani began his career by crafting lamps in his own workshop in Bergamo. His designs gained popularity at the 1989 Ambiente fair in Frankfurt, leading him to establish his own company that same year. Catellani's design philosophy emphasizes the interplay between materials and light, technical quality, and a sense of playfulness, with a focus on creating lights that evoke emotion and set a mood. His lamps and installations can also be found in London's Victoria and Albert Museum and in the garden of the Milan Triennale.
