Asplund’s Grand Palais coffee table stands out with all its majestic grandeur. The top of the round table does not come over the stand, allowing the wooden paneling to attract all the attention.
Made of stained ash and ash veneer, the Grand Palais coffee table is part of the Palais collection designed by Anya Sebton & Eva Lilja Löwenhielm for Asplund. Although the collection is a prime example of modern Scandinavian simplicity, it also has an air of luxury and elegance of ancient palaces, as the collection was inspired by the splendor of castles and palaces of bygone days with their columns, pedestals and wooden panelings. The forms and names of the furniture have also been inspired by Daniel Buren’s art installation called Les Deux Plateaus located in the inner courtyard of the Palais Royal in Paris.
