The majority of her assignments deal with product development and designing exhibitions. In addition to the more traditional design, she is fascinated by the possibilities of combining art and design. From time to time, she teaches at the University of Art and Design Helsinki. Saara Renvall is also one of the co-founders and organizers of Imu Design – Finland’s self-appointed National Design Team. Imu organizes international design exhibitions of works by young Finnish designers. Together with the other designers from Imu Design, Saara Renvall was awarded the Young Designer of the Year Prize of 2010. As a designer, Saara Renvall has chosen not to restrict herself to a certain material or product group. She enjoys the freedom of expressing herself without limiting the available materials. She rejoices in meaningful design that makes people stop, think and discover. Saara Renvall, who wishes with her work to improve daily lives with beauty and function, draws her inspiration from art, water, the four seasons, excursions and stamps. A perfect example of her design philosophy is the reflective flower brooch Kukka – Kukka is the Finnish word for flower. The Kukka brooch became a big hit right after its launch, not a surprise in a land – Finland – with a long and dark winter. The reflector brooch is both beautiful and functional – truly something else than the majority of reflectors seen on the street.
