Aldo Bakker

Aldo Bakker, born 1971, is known for his desire to create pieces whose function is not always immediately clear but require a bit more use or observation. Instead of just being used, he wants his designs to evoke feelings – he often incorporates unusual and surprising yet at the same time vaguely familiar elements to his creations. The autodidact designer is keen to follow his own path.

Many of Aldo Bakker’s designs are unique pieces or manufactured in small editions, but he has also collaborated with the likes of Georg Jensen, Karakter and Swarovski during his career. Bakker’s designs have been acquired by several museums both in his native Netherlands as well as abroad: MoMA in New York, Centre Pompidou in Paris, Rijksmuseum Amsterdam and Victoria & Albert Museum in London, to name a few.
