Description

Sika-Design’s Swing sofa is a beautiful rattan sofa designed by Tove Kindt-Larsen in 1937 – the same year, Kindt-Larsen won the third prize for the Swing chair in a wicker furniture competition organised by the Danish Reeds Guild. Woven from Indonesian rattan, the two-seater sofa delights with its lightweight, organic design and soft cushions upholstered in high-quality fabric. The Swing sofa adds a touch of rattan and timeless Danish aesthetics to any living room or summer house, and you can also use it in dry, covered outdoor spaces.

The Swing sofa is part of the Sika-Design’s Icons collection that features rattan classics from some of the most talented designers of our time.

Tove Kindt-Larsen

Tove Kindt-Larsen (1906–1994) was a Danish architect and designer known as one of the first female designers in the golden age of Danish design. The most well-known pieces of furniture she designed include the Grace chair from 1936 and the Swing chair from the following year. The rattan chairs are a great example of both Kindt-Larsen's signature style, drawing from natural forms, as well as her pioneering work on rattan and plywood furniture.

Tove Kindt-Larsen studied architecture and furniture design at the Royal Danish Academy of Arts in Copenhagen. In 1937, she married Edvard Kindt-Larsen (1901–1982) – she is perhaps best known for her collaboration with her husband and the couple’s joint design office, founded in 1945. The best-known furniture by the Kindt-Larsens include the Kamin and Pagaj chairs from 1939 and 1960, respectively, and the Pagoda and Prisma sofas from 1956 and 1964, respectively.
