Description

Alessi's Nuovo Milano cutlery set is a cherished Italian design classic, born from the creative mind of Ettore Sottsass in 1987. This 16-piece set is made from polished stainless steel and consists of 4 forks, 4 knives, 4 tablespoons and 4 coffee spoons.

Ettore Sottsass aimed to design a cutlery collection that would exude simple modernity and have a tactile quality akin to a sea-smoothed pebble. He achieved this goal brilliantly: Nuovo Milano received the prestigious Compasso d'Oro design award shortly after its debut, and nowadays, these classic utensils grace tables in homes and restaurants all around the globe.

Ettore Sottsass

Ettore Sottsass (1917–2007) was an influential Italian designer and architect, who became famous for his colourful, modernist designs and experimental, radical attitude. He was one of the founders of the design group Memphis, and in 1980 he founded his own agency Sottsass Associati, which today has offices in London and Milan. Sottsass designed many products for the Italian design brand Alessi, and his works are included in the Alessi 100 Values Collection, which was launched to celebrate Alessi's centennial.
