The recipes, based on seasonal thinking and a simple approach, were developed by Sami Tallberg, an award-winning chef and pioneer of Finnish wild food. The species descriptions are based on information from the Luontoportti online service, produced by Eija and Jouko Lehmuskallio, with species images by Jouko Lehmuskallio. First published in 2010, the book has expanded over the years, and the version published in 2022 is the eleventh, expanded, and revised edition.
