Description

Skagerak's Vester chair, designed by Chris Liljenberg Halstrøm, is an understatedly elegant piece of wooden furniture. Developed originally for the Danish coastal hotel, Svinkløv Badehotel, Vester delights with legs that make their way up into the backrest, a beautiful oiled oak body, and extraordinary proportions. Merging oak with brass details, the Vester chair makes for an alluring yet comfortable addition to any surrounding. Thanks to a transverse brass rod behind the backrest, pulling out the chair becomes a distinctly stylish experience. Skagerak's delightful Vester chair was awarded Furniture of the year at the 2020 Danish Design Awards.

Notes
Brass will tarnish over time, especially if it is not kept dry. Find a suitable brass polish and clean the brass carefully without staining other materials. Since brass can be quite susceptible to tarnish, small spots might already have occurred on the product when unpacking. These can easily be polished off.
Care instructions
Your new product comes with an oil treatment. For daily cleaning, use a damp cloth. Spills are to be removed immediately to minimize risk of spots. Oil treated products are to be retreated from time to time to keep the protective layer on the surface and maintain the aesthetic qualities from the oil.

Chris Liljenberg Halstrøm

Chris Liljenberg Halstrøm (b. 1977) established her own studio after graduating from The Royal Danish Academy in Copenhagen in 2007. Copenhagen-based Halstrøm designs objects and furniture for projects, exhibitions and brands such as Skagerak, Halle+ and Design Nation. The Georg furniture she created for Skagerak has brought her the Design+ Award, the Red Dot Award and the German Design Award. Elle Decoration Sweden named the collection as the ”Bedroom furniture of the year” in 2016.

Halstrøm’s work is influenced both by her Nordic roots and the interest in traditional Japanese architecture and design. The designs are characterized by minimalism and natural materials – form always follows function. She also works with textile designer Margrethe Odgaard under the name Included Middle. Together they examine how form influences colour and pattern, and vice versa.
