Robert W. was a German craftsman who specialized in wicker furniture, and was appointed as a wicker maker to the Danish Crown in 1914. Robert W. started his career with European materials, until he discovered rattan, which was still a new and exotic material in the early 20th century. Robert W. is considered as a pioneer and the most skillful wicker maker in Denmark, and his work influenced many iconic Danish designers, such as Arne Jacobsen, Viggo Boesen, Nanna & Jørgen Ditzel and Kay Bojesen.
