Norman Foster (b. 1935) is one of the most significant names of modern British architecture. The founder of the architectural office Foster + Partners, Foster is famous for his bold designs that often combine steel and glass. The sleek, streamlined style is also visible in his product design.

Foster + Partners has designed numerous landmarks around the globe, including London’s City Hall, the airport terminals in Beijing and Hong Kong, the glass dome of Berlin’s Reichstag building and Millau Viaduct, the highest road bridge in the world. Foster was knighted in 1990 and in 1999 he was granted a life peerage as Baron Foster of Thames Bank. The same year he was awarded the Pritzker Architecture Prize, often referred to as the Nobel Prize of architecture.
