The Unikko rug is decorated with Maija Isola's iconic Marimekko pattern. Unikko came about in 1964 after Armi Ratia, the founder of Marimekko, announced that no floral fabrics would be designed at Marimekko. Maija Isola, however, was not having it and in protest, she designed an entire collection of bold floral patterns – nowadays Unikko is one of Marimekko's most beloved patterns and recognized around the world.
Created in collaboration with esteemed Dutch rugmaker Brink & Campman, this Marimekko rug is tufted from pure new wool with a combination of cut and loop pile, which makes the surface pattern three-dimensional. It has a playful yet sophisticated appearance that makes it an ideal complement to modern, minimalist, and Scandinavian-style spaces. Wherever positioned, the beige Unikko rug promises to infuse your home with warmth and an intriguing visual interest.
