Description

GUBI’s Pedrera coffee table was designed for Antoni Gaudi's famous La Pedrera building in Barcelona. In 1955, the loft space of La Pedrera was transformed from a laundry and storage area into 13 modern duplex apartments. Spanish architect Barba Corsini was in charge of the renovations, and to complement the modernist look of the rooms, Corsini also designed furniture and lighting for the apartments, including the Pedrera coffee table.

The Pedrera coffee table has a vivid brass frame and an organically shaped glass top. It pairs perfectly with the lamps from the Pedrera collection, and also makes a distinctive eye-catcher by itself.

Barba Corsini

Barba Corsini (1916–2008) was a Spanish functionalist architect, famous for his renovation and interior design for Antoni Gaudi’s La Pedrera building in Barcelona, for which he won numerous international awards.

Corsini got his influence from the German architect Mies van der Rohe and American architect Frank Lloyd Wright, and he was also strongly inspired by the simplistic and clean Finnish architecture, which he believed to be the finest in Europe. Corsini’s style has been described as ’powerful simplicity’, which is clearly represented in the lamps and furnitures of the Pedrera series.
