The Iso Unikko rug is decorated with Maija Isola's iconic Marimekko pattern in a giant size; hence the name Iso Unikko, Finnish for "big poppy". Unikko came about in 1964 after Armi Ratia, the founder of Marimekko, announced that no floral fabrics would be designed at Marimekko. Maija Isola, however, was not having it and in protest, she designed an entire collection of bold floral patterns – nowadays Unikko is one of Marimekko's most beloved patterns and recognized around the world.
Created in collaboration with esteemed Dutch rugmaker Brink & Campman, this Marimekko rug is tufted from pure new wool with a combination of cut and loop pile. No matter where it's placed, the Iso Unikko rug is sure to bring captivating visual appeal to your living space. As well as a cosy warmth and softness under your feet!
