Iittala’s Tsaikka glass was designed by Timo Sarpaneva in 1957. Tsaikka is perfect for hot drinks, such as tea or mulled wine. It consists of an organically shaped glass that lets you enjoy the colour of the drink, while the characteristic, nickel-plated holder keeps your hands cool. The glasses are sold in a set of two.
Designer Timo Sarpaneva found the inspiration for the pattern of the holders after visiting a zipper factory. The first holders for the Tsaikka glasses were made out of perforated metal sheets that were, in fact, excess material from the zipper factory.
