The Ateljee sofa by Yrjö Kukkapuro is one of the most iconic pieces of Finnish design. Introduced in 1964, Ateljee was first born when Kukkapuro decided to translate the structure of a steel bed into a lounge chair and a sofa. The design turned out to be a success: Ateljee remains one of Kukkapuro’s best-known works and has been acquired to the collections of both the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and MoMA in New York.
The timeless, minimalist design of Ateljee is based on a lightweight, modular tube structure complemented by comfy cushions upholstered in high-quality leather. The naturally dyed and tanned semi-aniline leather will develop a gorgeous patina over time and use, continuously adding to the sofa’s charming character. Due to both the structure and materials, the three-seater is extremely durable as well as fully repairable. The Ateljee sofa is made in Finland and has been awarded with the Finnish Key Flag certificate.
Please note that the headrests are sold separately. The three-seater requires three if you wish to cover the entire backrest – although you may also use only one or two if you wish to cover just a part of it.
