Yrjö Kukkapuro
Yrjö Kukkapuro (born 1933) is one of the most prominent names in Finnish furniture design. Having begun his career as early as the 1950s, Kukkapuro has always aimed for a seamless combination of aesthetics and functionality, regardless of whether he is working on more artistic project or something entirely practical, such as an office chair collection. User experience and ergonomics are central to his design work: “Does it make any sense to design a chair which is not good to sit on?” he has often said. During his long career, Kukkapuro has designed numerous pieces of furniture that have become sought-after design classics, such as the iconic Remmi series and the Ateljee armchair and sofa.
