Julie Tolvanen

Julie Tolvanen (b. 1970) is an American designer, who received a degree in architecture from Washington University and worked as a woodworker over a decade before moving to Finland. She studied furniture design at Aalto University and founded Studio Tolvanen with her husband Mika Tolvanen in 2015. They design furniture, lighting and objects in Helsinki, Finland.

In 2015, her Julie chair won the Good Design Award by Chicago Athenaeum and was chosen among the 12 Best Interior Design Products by the Association of Interior Design Editors of Finland. The Wood Dish Rack, designed together with Mika, came in third in the first FDS Award, organized by Finnish Design Shop. Studio Tolvanen's client list includes brands such as Muuto, Woud, Inno, NakNak, Zanotta and many more.
