Jean-Michel Wilmotte

Jean-Michel Wilmotte (b. 1948) is a French architect, urban planner and designer who has led the Wilmotte & Associés architecture firm since 1975. A graduate of the École Camondo design school, Wilmotte's work has expanded over the decades to encompass architecture, interior design, museology, urban planning and industrial design. Today, Wilmotte & Associés is ranked among the 100 largest architecture firms in the world, operating in over 20 countries with projects ranging from luxury hotels and residential buildings to public spaces.

Wilmotte's design approach is characterised by his skilful and innovative blending of tradition and modernity. His passion for preserving cultural heritage is evident in initiatives like the W Prize, which supports the conservation and adaptive reuse of historic buildings. Wilmotte himself has received numerous prestigious awards and honours, including the title of Officer of the French Legion of Honour.
