Aksel Bender Madsen

Aksel Bender Madsen (1916-2000) was a Danish furniture designer. After graduating from the Royal Danish Academy of Arts in 1940, Madsen worked under Kaare Klint and Arne Jacobsen until 1947, when he founded his own design studio with his former fellow student Ejner Larsen. The two became famous for their simplistic and timeless chairs, the most famous of which was the Metropolitan Chair, once part of Fritz Hansen's collection.
