Description

&Tradition’s Shuffle table MH1 is a flexible piece of furniture that can serve many uses. The beautifully shaped wooden blocks can be combined to place the tabletop at different heights, making Shuffle suitable for various kinds of spaces. By using playful colours and shapes inspired by old wooden toys, Norwegian designer Mia Hamborg has given a new life to the old Nordic craft tradition of turning wood.

It’s up to the user to decide where to place Shuffle and even to decide the form and height of the table. A turned wooden leg divided into pieces and splashed with colour is a daring and charming way of renewing the woodturning tradition. The Shuffle table combines the playfulness of old wooden toys with another Nordic tradition: democracy. The users are free to compose their own table from the turned pieces and with the measures that will fit their home perfectly, spreading an aura of joy and elegance.

Mia Hamborg

The Norwegian designer Mia Hamborg (b.1980), BA in furniture from the Steneby School of Crafts and Design in Gothenburg, has a passion for order, functionality and colour. With her joyous and playful furniture she continues an old Nordic tradition for wood turning and brings new life into the material. She doesn’t follow any strict design tradition, but the joy of life is definitely her inspiration.

One of her most creative products is the playful Shuffle table designed for &Tradition, a turned wooden leg divided into pieces and splashed with colour. With it, Mia Hamborg gives new life to the old Nordic craft tradition of turning wood by adding the colour and playful forms from old painted wooden toys. The users are free to compose their own table from the turned pieces and with the measures that will fit their home perfectly, spreading an aura of joy.

I saw this table well visiting the Museum of Modern Art in New York and fell in love with it. Ordered it as soon as I got home and it really is a piece of art!
