Description

Menhir espresso coffee maker by Alessi, designed by Michael Anastassiades, is a reinterpretation of a design classic recognized by all coffee lovers. The stainless steel pot takes its shape from a surprising object – the strikingly graphic lines reflect the strength of the megalithic. This large stone has been used to create a prehistoric monument, alone or together with other massive stones. Anastassiades was inspired by the legends associated with these huge stone structures, and what better way to capture the spirit of the legends than with a household object that has achieved almost mythical fame: the coffee machine!

The Menhir espresso coffee maker's octagonal shape is another nod to the past and history as the Hellenic column system inspired it. Combining classic and modern design, the coffee pot is a must-have for every kitchen, whether it's for busy mornings or as the finishing touch to a long dinner party.

Anastassiades is a winner of many notable design awards, and his work is featured in permanent collections of museums such as New York’s MoMA, London’s Victoria and Albert Museum and Orleans’ FRAC Centre.
