The Blue Door: Yrjö Kukkapuro Life & Work presents an illustrated overview of the Finnish master of functionalism and modernism, designer Yrjö Kukkapuro (b. 1933). Kukkapuro, renowned for creations like the Karuselli chair, Remmi series, and Ateljee collection, stands among the internationally acclaimed Finnish designers. His works are showcased in prestigious venues such as the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, MoMA in New York, and the Vitra Design Museum in Germany. Released in 2023, this 248-page book is authored and edited by Isa Kukkapuro-Enbom.

Yrjö Kukkapuro is one of the great modernists in Finnish furniture design. His biography takes the reader from Vyborg in the 1930s down the decades to the 21st century.

Most Finns have sat on one of his chairs at some point, whether in a health centre, school, auditorium, metro carriage, theatre, library or office.

This is the story of the man behind the chairs, the creative buzz in his profession, and surrounding social change.
