Description

HAY's round Rey table draws inspiration from the iconic chair designed by Bruno Rey in 1971. The classic collection, re-invented and re-released in collaboration with the original manufacturer, Swiss Dietiker, charms with its softly rounded lines and simple but detailed design. The timeless appeal of the Rey dining table makes it an impressive addition to all spaces, private and public alike.

In the Rey collection, the wooden legs and the tabletop finished with hard-wearing laminate are combined in an innovative way completely without screws thanks to the die-cast aluminium brackets. The unique mechanism also gives the table its distinctive look: the tabletop looks almost as if it is floating, perfecting the robust design with an irresistibly attractive lightness.

Bruno Rey

Bruno Rey (1935–2019) is a celebrated Swiss designer best known for the Rey chair, produced by furniture manufacturer Dietiker since the 70s – the screwless chair, combining wood and metal in an innovative way, is one of the most iconic Swiss chairs to this day.

Rey initially took on an apprenticeship as a cabinet maker but steered later towards industrial design. He applied to the Kunstgewerbeschule Zurich design, where he also attended an interior design course by the legendary Swiss designer Willy Guhl. Rey opened his own studio, focusing on architecture and design, in 1968, and has since created many well-known designs – some of them in collaboration with renowned designer Charles Polin.
