Description

Ariake’s Split mirror was designed by Zoë Mowat with the Japanese concept of Ma in mind. Ma roughly translates to pause, gap or negative space; Mowat decided to leave surprising ”empty” spaces in the mirror’s wooden frame. In keeping with Ma, these empty spaces capture the viewer’s attention, making them just as important in the whole as the wooden frame itself.
