Carl Hansen & Søn's bench model BM0699, better known as Asserbo, is a perfect example of Danish designer Børge Mogensen's stringent design focusing on the object's usability. And no wonder, as Mogensen originally designed the bench for his own use! The bench is balanced and very well-proportioned with a slightly curved seat and a fixed backrest.
Børge Mogensen initially created the Asserbo series furniture in 1961 for his own holiday home in Asserbo, Denmark. Back then, the furniture was made of pine, but as reissued by Carl Hansen & Søn, the material has been changed to durable eucalyptus characterised by a refined wood grain pattern. What's more, the dark-oiled wood is decorated with brass screws visible both in the backrest and the frame. In addition to homes, the bench is perfect for restaurants and public spaces – wherever you might get together for a meal or a meaningful conversation.
The bench is made of responsibly grown eucalyptus and has been awarded the EU Ecolabel.
