Description

The Universal door wedge by Massproductions is a sculptural, geometric rubber door wedge designed to fit a variety of doors – did you know, that the gap between the door and the floor may range from 5 mm to 5 cm? It took designer Chris Martin over a year to come up with the perfect design, but the wait was definitely worth it, as two wedge-shaped sides allow the wedge to be used with basically any door. Another genius feature is the handle that allows you to position the door wedge without bending all the way down to the floor.

The Universal door wedge is part of Massproductions' The Little Things product line, designed by Chris Martin, that comprises a range of smaller furniture and objects. When creating the collection, Martin wanted to focus on the kind of items we encounter in our day-to-day lives but often take for granted. The idea behind The Little Things is to "gild everyday life", as Martin puts it.

Chris Martin

The British designer Chris Martin moved to Stockholm to do freelance work for IKEA. However, Martin wanted to change his work to a more sustainable and quality-driven direction, so that there would be fewer filters between him and the final product. He met the Swedish designer Magnus Elebäck and together they founded the furniture company Massproductions in 2009.

For Massproductions, Martin designs products in a traditional Nordic way, without forgetting to add in elements from other cultures, as well. His design work is characterised by his ability to unite functionality with an innovative, even artistic appearance. In 2020, Martin was awarded with the prestigious Bruno Mathsson Prize.
