Description

The AH Outdoor collection by Carl Hansen & Søn adds a dose of timeless Danish design to your outdoor space, whether it be a spacious patio or a compact urban balcony. Designed by architect Alfred Homann in 2022, the elegantly minimalist collection consists of a variety of furniture suitable for any occasion from hosting a large garden party to relaxing in the company of just yourself and perhaps a good book.

Characterised by a simple and functional design language, model AH911 is a small square table and a seat in one. The piece can be used as a side table or an extra stool at the aforementioned party, or perhaps as a dedicated kids’ table! You can also add a seat cushion, available separately, to make the stool extra comfortable to sit on. The table – or stool – is stackable, making it easy to store away for the winter.

Just like all furniture in the AH Outdoor collection, the table is made of certified teak wood. The durable material ages beautifully, turning from a warm brown to a dignified silvery grey. If you wish to keep the original colour, be sure to oil the furniture before the first use and regularly thereafter.

Alfred Homann

Danish Alfred Homann (1948–2022) was an award-winning architect and designer who conceived museums, railway stations and other public buildings as well as private homes during his career. Known for his unadorned and functional style, Homann designed not only buildings but also furniture – he collaborated with the likes of prestigious furniture brand Carl Hansen & Søn. Homann also designed several lighting models, but exclusively for lighting manufacturer Louis Poulsen.

Alfred Homann graduated as an architect from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1976. Already during his studies, he worked under several Danish and American architects, but two years after his graduation – when he was 30 years old – he decided to found his first very own design studio. In addition to his studio in Copenhagen, Homann also worked in the United States during his career, where he had a design agency called Homann Design Inc. between 1987 and 1995.
