To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Finland’s independence, Jalo Helsinki has launched a streamlined fire extinguisher, designed by professor Oiva Toikka. Oiva is not only attractive but easy to use too: after removing the bird’s head and seal, the extinguisher functions like a standard spray bottle. Designed especially for extinguishing cooking oil fires, Oiva can put out up to 25 litres of burning oil but can be used to extinguish other starting fires as well. As the extinguishant is biodegradable, it may be cleaned with water and ordinary household detergents.
