Description

The AYNO floor lamp is the first new luminaire designed for Midgard since the 1950s. As is typical of Midgard luminaires, AYNO brings design, technology, and sustainability together in an elegant and aesthetic way.

AYNO, designed by Stefan Diez, has a captivatingly inventive and beautifully minimalist look. The luminaire consists of a cone-shaped shade and a black power cord attached to a slim fibreglass rod by two adjustment rings. The trick is in the lamp's simple but effective control: the direction of the light is controlled by sliding the rings on the power cord. As the rings are moved, they tighten the electric cable, which bends the fibreglass rod into an arc. If necessary, the direction of the light can be fine-tuned by turning the shade's dome.

The stripped-down design of the floor lamp is not only aesthetically pleasing but also a responsible choice, as it enables very low consumption of resources. The luminaire is also made of fully recyclable materials, which are easy to recycle and replace if necessary. AYNO won the German Sustainability Award in 2021.
