Description

Mattiazzi’s Cugino Soft stool presents a pine wood interpretation of Konstantin Grcic’s original oak-crafted design. Due to prolonged availability challenges with oak, Mattiazzi sought out new materials for the Cugino series, resulting in the introduction of Cugino Soft. Crafted from quickly growing and abundantly available pine wood, the stool’s name alludes to the timber slightly softer than oak, complemented by a seat adorned with smooth, natural linoleum.

Mattiazzi's Cugino stool inventively plays with the contrast of solid wood and empty space. Designer Konstantin Grcic set out to create a piece of furniture whose purpose would not be too obvious, leaving room for interpretation; therefore Cugino works just as well as a stool as it does as a small side table or night stand. “Cugino is the result of many tries; it happened over time, with wanting it to be an object that we don’t already know, but also something that is maybe a little bit familiar,“ Grcic has said.
