HOWE’s Tongue chair, designed by Arne Jacobsen, is a playful chair classic from 1955. The Tongue chair’s name refers to its curved seat made of bent veneer, and the slender, diagonal legs are made of steel. The chair was reintroduced in 2013 with additional strength in construction.
Jacobsen originally designed the Tongue chairs for the Danish Munkegaard school, and since then, the chairs have found their way into homes, offices, restaurants and hotels around the world – including the Jacobsen-designed SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. The lightweight chairs are perfect for all types of spaces. The Tongue collection includes a wide range of chairs in multiple colour, material and upholstery options.
