Vitra's Plywood Group LCW chair consists of distinctively shaped wooden legs and a pleasant, low seat and back made of ash plywood. The parts are combined with rubber plates which make the structure strong and flexible, and also function as a shock mount between the seat and the frame. The Eameses were the first designers to use this technique in plywood chairs.
Plywood Group LCW chair is a member of a timeless series of chairs that Charles and Ray Eames designed in the 1940s. The organic design of the chairs comes from the comfortable, beautifully bent plywood seat and back. The letters LCW stand for Lounge Chair Wood.
