Description

The large bookcase from Normann Copenhagen's Plank series offers storage space in a minimalist Scandinavian style. Use it as your personal library or create a changing exhibition of your most beloved possessions, displaying beautiful vases, candleholders, art glass pieces or wooden figurines.

Designed by Simon Legald, the Plank series is named after its material. The bookshelves are made of thick pine planks, whose surface is dotted with knots characteristic of pine wood. Typically for the designer, these details are seen as an essential part of the material rather than something that should be covered up. Instead of a thick layer of paint, the shelving unit has been finished with a UV matte varnish, which allows the natural beauty of the pine tree to be seen in all its splendour and natural variability. In addition to the surface texture, it is typical for pine wood to patina over time, and the shade of the shelf will slowly change to a beautiful honey-like tone.
