The CH26 chair was originally designed by Hans J. Wegner in 1950. However, he never manufactured a mock-up of the chair and it remained unknown for decades. Finally, in 2016, the CH26 was put into production by Carl Hansen & Søn in accordance with Wegner’s original working drawing.
The CH26 chair closely resembles the lounge version, the iconic CH22 armchair. The CH22 lounge chair, which was designed in the same year as the CH26, did end up in production and has redeemed its position as a Danish design classic.
The CH26 chair is made of oak with the back and armrests in contrasting walnut, complete with a hand-woven seat so comfortable that you can sit in the chair even for longer periods. Thanks to its sophisticated design and perfect proportions, the CH26 chair makes an ideal dining chair.
