The story of Carl Hansen & Søn’s Elbow chair isn’t quite traditional: Hans J. Wegner designed the chair already in 1956, but after crafting two prototypes, Wegner set the chair aside in his archives. Nearly half a century later, in 2005, the chair was put into production for the first time by Carl Hansen & Søn. In the same year, the Elbow chair won the ICFF Editors Award in New York and since then it has redeemed its position as a modern design classic.
The elegant Elbow chair is a masterpiece of traditional craftsmanship: the solid wood backrest is bent in shape with steam, and the skillfully crafted rail construction under the leather-upholstered seat is unique. Made by hand in Denmark, the stackable Elbow chair offers great comfort and perfect support for the back and makes an ideal dining chair in homes and restaurants alike.
