Oiva Toikka’s Owlet is an adorable, blue-eyed baby owl, who joined Iittala’s glass bird family in 2004, although originally in a different colour. The owl is hand-crafted, making each individual one-of-a-kind – the hues might be darker or lighter or the owl's eyes larger, or pointing in a different direction, for example. After all, real owls are also unique creatures of nature!
The first glass birds of Birds by Toikka collection were designed in 1972 by Professor Oiva Toikka, renowned for his unique contribution to Finnish art glass over the past half-century. Each bird is a mouth-blown, unique individual, signed with the artist’s name.
