Artek's Aalto Armchair 45, originally designed by Alvar Aalto in 1947, is a refined armchair known for its versatility and timeless appearance. The Armchair 45 is equally at home around a dining table, at a work desk, or as a cosy spot for relaxation. Chair 45 was a favourite of Aalto himself, and he used it in his own architectural office.
In the updated version of Aalto's Armchair 45, released in 2024, the dimensions have been adjusted to meet today's standards. The seat and armrests have been slightly elevated, and the seating angle has been adjusted for a more upright posture. The iconic design remains true to its roots – unchanged where it counts because the functional elegance of Armchair 45 still shines in modern interiors. In this version, the chair's frame is made of walnut-stained birch. The seat is quilted leather and the armrests are adorned with leather pads.
