Dawn Chorus, published by Garret Publications, is a hauntingly beautiful glimpse into the dawn of a new day — the title of the photo book refers to the very moment when different birds burst into song simultaneously right before sunrise. Photographer and sculptor Perttu Saksa has collected 90 black and white photographs, taken on the beaches and cliffs of Hankoniemi, the southernmost tip of Finland. The foreword to Dawn Chorus is written by Finlandia winner Anni Kytömäki.
Photographer Perttu Saksa's Dawn Chorus explores human's relationship with nature. The photographs explore the similarities between the human perception of time and the geological cycle. The book begins with a fictional text written by Anni Kytömäki. The photographs of Dawn Chorus were taken on the shores and cliffs of Hankoniemi, the southernmost tip of Finland, between 2020 and 2022.
