Description

Midgard's K831 pendant is a combination of functional design and superior quality. The ceiling light is based on a rare design from the Kandem lighting factory in the 1930s. The design duo Rasch & Einsiedler has updated the luminaire for the modern age.

The magic of the ceiling light lies in its perfect adjustability: the highly reflective cone-shaped shade is attached to a ball-shaped component, allowing the shade to be rotated and tilted in every possible direction. The light beam can be precisely directed where it is most needed. The pleasantly simple luminaire is ideal above the dining table or to illuminate work areas in the home or office, either alone or in a group of several ceiling lights. All parts of the K831 pendant are made in Germany. The final luminaire is assembled by hand in Hamburg.

Rasch & Einsiedler

Design duo Rasch & Einsiedler are not furniture designers in a classic way: Joke Rasch is a graphic designer and David Einsiedler is a freelance business consultant. They share a passion for original 1920s-1960s design furniture, classic book printing and soul music. In 2011, the couple set up a café and furniture shop where they sold a selection of industrial furniture. Their work with vintage design continued when they bought the lighting company Midgard in 2015. The deal included the rights to lighting designs by the designer Curt Fischer, which Midgard now manufactures with original tools and machinery.
