Description

Published by Taschen, Ando provides a compact insight into the career of the Japanese architect Tadao Ando (s. 1941). Ando is known for his modernist designs, such as museums and churches, that often have a refined sensitivity to the environment. Written by Masao Furuyama from the Kyoto Institute of Technology, the book is part of Taschen's Basic Architecture series that presents life and work of internationally renowned architects with approximately 120 photographs, sketches and drafts. The series has been edited by German art historian Peter Gössel.

Get to know Tadao Ando, the only architect to have won the discipline’s four most prestigious prizes: the Pritzker, Carlsberg, Praemium Imperiale, and Kyoto Prize. This succinct introduction explores Ando’s unique blend of calm Japanese tradition and compelling modernism across private homes, churches, fashion stores, museums, and more.
