Bon Jour Unplugged table lamp

Description

Flos’s Bon Jour Unplugged is a cordless, rechargeable table lamp designed by French design legend Philippe Starck. The minimalist luminaire is made of painted or galvanized ABS plastic and equipped with a clear shade made of PMMA. Utilizing the luminaire's Edge-LED technology, the light source is innovatively placed on the luminaire's stand so that it can be used both with and without a shade.

Bon Jour Unplugged is turned on by lightly touching the optical sensor located on its stand, which is also dimmed by touching the sensor again. In addition, the luminaire has a special twilight mode, which can be turned on by touching the sensor continuously for three seconds; in twilight mode, the light intensity is 3%. There is also a lock at the bottom of the luminaire, with which the optical sensor can be switched off, for example when the luminaire is moved from one place to another. At full charge, the lamp’s battery will last 6 to 24 hours, depending on the chosen light intensity.

Philippe Starck

The french designer Philippe Starck (b. 1949) studied in École Nissim de Camondo in Paris and stayed in Paris after his studies. He became famous for his style and even the president Francois Mitterand asked him to design a suite to his palace. Starck became one of the most famous designers of that time and designed everything from apartment blocks, homes, domestic products and hotels.

In the 80s and 90s Starck started working for Kartell. The cooperation was built on the company’s will to create eco-friendly, contemporary plastic furniture and the designer's particular style. One of the most iconic designs of our time, the transparent Louis Ghost chair, was one of the results of the cooperation with Kartell.
