Designer
Harry Bertoia (1915-1978) was an Italian-American artist and designer best known for his imaginative sound sculptures and the steel chairs he designed for Knoll. Historian Brian Lutz once described Bertoia’s creations: “Bertoia’s paintings were better than his sculptures. And his sculptures were better than his furniture. And his furniture was absolutely brilliant.”
