Description

Karakter’s Awkward Light has been deliberately designed to seem, as the name suggests, awkward. Created by Anatomy Design, the lamp’s quirky design is intentionally proportioned so that the luminaire seems almost out of balance since all parts have been kept as delicate as the laws of physics would allow. The structure makes it possible to illuminate two spots simultaneously, for example each corner of a sofa or two armchairs placed side by side. Set at its widest, the lamp measures well over two meters in width.

Anatomy Design

Anatomy Design is a South African design studio founded by Megan Hesse and Andrea Kleinloog in 2010. Initially focused on interior design, the studio soon also opened a showroom in Johannesburg as many of their designs, created for various projects, began sparking peoples’ interest also outside of their interior design projects. In 2010, Sotuh African online publication Design Indaba chose Anatomy Design’s Lab Light as the most beautiful object in South Africa.
