Daniel Emma is the design studio Daniel To (b. 1984) and Emma Aiston (b. 1985) founded in 2008 to express themselves through means of industrial design. They met while studying industrial design at the University of South Autralia in Adelaide and after graduating in 2007 they gained experience by working for design studios such as Marc Newson, Thorsten Van Elten and Committee. Daniel Emma’s work features various projects from stationery to installations, and the studio’s clients include Hay, Wallpaper, Field, Tait and Petite Friture.
In 2009 Wallpaper listed To an Aiston the graduates to watch and the next year they were selected as the most promising talent both at 100% Design London and the Bombay Sapphire Australian Design Discovery Award. Daniel Emma’s work is influenced by the diverse culture of Australia and characterized by simple geometric shapes and the aim to be ‘just nice’.
