The Aalto bowl by Iittala is based on Alvar Aalto’s original drawings from the 1930s, but its size has been updated to better suit modern needs. The glass bowl can be used as a display for jewellery or other personal objects, or for serving snacks and sweets.
The distinctive shape of the glass bowl resembles the organic form of the classic Aalto vase, and no wonder, as it belongs to the same glassware collection Alvar Aalto created for the World Fair in Paris in 1937. Today, the Aalto vases and bowls are manufactured in a range of colours and designs.
Like the iconic Aalto vases, the Aalto bowl is mouth-blown by master glassblowers at the Iittala glassworks in Finland. After the blowing process, the vase is hand-cut and finished to its final form through several polishing. As the item is handmade, we recommend hand-washing it.
