Description

Santa & Cole’s Moragas table lamp is a luminaire designed by the renowned Spanish architect Antoni de Moragas Gallissà for his own office in 1957. The harmonious look of the sophisticated table lamp is created by the combination of a sturdy oak base and a refined cotton ribbon shade. Inside the shade are three lamps attached to a delicate brass frame, creating pleasantly balanced lighting. The Moragas table lamp is ideal for both the bedside table and the living room – or you can use it on your desk and place notes and business cards between the pleats, as Antoni de Moragas Gallissà allegedly did.

Antoni de Moragas Gallissà

Antoni de Moragas Gallissà (1913–1985) is a Spanish architect and designer whose passionate efforts shaped the direction of Spanish design. Antoni de Moragas Gallissà, who graduated as an architect, founded a group called Club 49 in 1949, in which like-minded designers drew inspiration from the avant-garde ideology of Europe and the United States and created links to the West – at a time when Spain had completely been left out from the design ideologies trending in Europe.

Later in 1960, Antoni de Moragas Gallissà also co-founded the FAD Association of Industrial Design (ADI-FAD) with Miguel Milá, Rafael Marquina and André Ricard, and the organization is still one of the most respected in the industry. The lamps and furniture designed by Antoni de Moragas are timeless classics whose design language carries references to pure functionality and rationalism, as well as Nordic features that draw inspiration from Alvar Aalto's ideology and works.
